Good starter. Things to keep in mind: You will need a fitting to attach your sink or other water flow to the cooling tank. The kit comes with 3 feet of 3/8 I.d. tubing to use with the cooler. The kit only had enough copper pipe to put the cooling tank directly above the cool pot or swung out to the side but if you use it this way you will have to build your own stand to support the cooling tank. If you use the cooling tank directly above the main pot then much of the cooling efficiency is lost due to heat rising off the main pot. All in all only order this kit if you are "handy". It's not a fill it and run it option.

Finally got to running this and it's not great. The overall construction isn't bad but there are a few design issues. -The condenser does not sit on the lid very well and is uneven. I had to shim it to make it more stable and to level it out so more coils were under water. -The overall size of the condenser is too small. There is only a couple of coils under water and it overheats. The water flow is still very difficult to control even with the dual valves. The size of the pot and small waterlines is the main issue. -There is no need for the additional valve for fermentation. I got it to work but even running it at max temperatures it took 6 hours to complete just under 3 gallons. I will be selling this one in the near future or parting it out on a new build.

The kettle is OK. The snap fasteners and silicone do an adequate job of sealing in hot vapours. But the condenser is open at the top, which means rapidly flowing water can't drain fast enough through the tiny upper return hole. So it leaks, spilling cold water on top of your hot boiler. Absolutely unusable. I scrapped the poorly designed condenser and replaced it with a stainless steel and copper lieibig condenser I built myself. Thus modified, as shown in the photo, the still works fine. But if you aren't handy with metal and solder, I'd consider spending more for a small pot still.

The seal on the kettle did not seal. I used some teflon tape to make it seal, that worked. However it has a rubber taste from the gasket. Only made one run so far. Maybe it will do better next time.
