    A big improvement over OEM for much less.

    If you need to replace the original starter on your John Deere this is a great alternative at a very reasonable price. The OEM starters on older John Deere tractors were direct drive and a cold engine or weak battery made it a challenge to spin the engine fast enough to start. These starters are gear driven and spin the engine much quicker for faster starts. I had another aftermarket starter on this tractor that failed after several years use. This starter is built far heavier throughout for a slightly higher price, but well worth it in my opinion. We'll see how it lasts, but don't think twice about buying this starter if it fits your application.

    impressive gear reduction starter

    the mounting bolt on top only accessable with crowfoot attachment on a long extention but once mounted the starter has 50% more torque than the original starter on 1985 2750 model my alternator is not working and batteries were low and it still started the tractor. I give it 5 star rating.

    Better then stock.

    Smaller diameter gives you a little more room to work. Bottom bolt is easier to get to, top bolt is slightly more difficult to get to because of the solenoid positioning but still a huge improvement over stock! I recommend it over stock.
