Great toy! You can build all kinds of shapes and structures, and kids as young as 2 years old can start playing. Our nearly 3 year old loves these. He especially loves building different houses, barns, castles to make homes for his toy animals. If you build something too big / heavy without support it will collapse if its roughly handled. This is a good attribute of the toy - learn to be patient and handle the structure carefully, get frustrated when it collapses and that's OK, you can get over it and rebuild. This brand is just as good as Magnatiles - better even because we like the squares with the cutouts and these are better value. With this set you get 82 magnetic tiles (not 100) and some plastic inserts you use for decoration that snap into the cut out tiles. (13 non magnetic letters and 5 non magnetic window inserts.) If you get the set for a sale price you are still paying way less than $1 per magnetic tiles for a high quality tile. This is cheaper than Magnatiles and the quality is just as good. The squares with cutout holes are a fun addition for use eg: cool architectural element; use them as entryways to when putting toy figures into; poorly supported roof when you need to save weight. We added this set to the Magnatiles 32 piece set that were were outgrowing, they are compatible. If you are hesitant I'd say start with a 60 piece set if you can afford it, but just having 30 is fun too. With this set of 82 you can build large structures or a whole town of small ones. This set comes with an 'instruction book' that has lots of inspiration for building for you and your child. BUT it shows buildings that use a few pieces that are not in this set, eg the wheels part. So it might be a good idea to not let your child ever see the instructions, or you could take out the trucks page?Read full review

We have three children that have fallen in love with this toy over the years. They get it out daily to build castles, cars, houses, and other things to incorporate into their play with their lego creations. I truly feel that this is the best toy that we bought for our children as I have been able to watch their creativity flourish, while they learned to work together with each other. We have one child that has some developmental and physical struggles, who plays with the tiles daily. He first started out making towers, sorting them by color or shape, and now he is building castles, houses, boxes, teepees, cars.... I love watching him sit down to build with the magnetic tiles, as it is helping him to have fun while strengthening his fine motor skills at the same time. This is even a toy for all ages, even parents to get down on the floor to play with the kids at the same time. I love that the toys are durable, easy to clean, do not need any batteries and they unleash unlimited possibilities from our imagination. The only negative thing that I can think of is that the kids end up fighting over them sometimes, but that just proves that they all love playing with the same toy together. Every year we buy more magnetic tiles for the boys to be able to build more amazing things together.Read full review

I had heard of these magnetic building blocks but the price tag is a little hefty so I did some research before I bought a set. After reading about 1,000 product reviews I decided on playmags as the consensus seems to be that they are the best made and best priced of the 3 competing brands. I am not dissapointed!! These are wonderful! My kids are lego experts so it takes a lot for a building set to impress them but these have left them blown away. All of the different shapes make it to where we can build on angles that aren't possible with traditional building blocks. And being magnetic has them hold shapes to where we can build slopes, which has entertained us for hours upon hours since the moment we opened the box. It's amazing to watch my 3 1/2 year old twins figure out geometry right before my eyes but that's exactly what happens as they piece together octagons and cubes and cones. I have been able to teach them more geometric design concepts with these than with any other learning tool I've purchased. I thought my husband would complain about the price but I can't keep him away from these blocks, either! He spends the evenings in my boys' room, building castles and chattering away with them about all the different shapes they are creating. These blocks make for true family entertainment and in this time of iPad/tablet obsession it's so nice to be interacting together as a family and using something that doesn't need a cord. These are worth every penny.Read full review

We have had a older solid colored set from Magna-Tiles, and the kids (7 kids from 1 - 13) wanted more. I liked the price much better for the Playmags so I choose them (same size and works together). The kids are excited with the clear fun look, windows, and cars (we bought an extra set). My older kids like to build houses and play 'doll house' using their Playmobil stuff. The little kids have build designs and used their Little People stuff or cars. My one year old will even play with them, although I do not know what she is building :). We have very few toys (compared to many) but this one TOPS. The last year or two that we have had tiles the LEGO's have gotten VERY little play. These are nice and easy to build with, tear down, and great for all ages.

These are creative, entertaining, and offer endless possibilities for building and designing. It's probably the MOST played with toy in our house--and they are so easy to clean up/pick up afterwards! We all love them!
