Excellent sounding unit... the converters are excellent... not quite as idiot-proof to set up with ADAT connection as some of the other units available (I currently have a Motu 828mkii and M-Audio Profire 2626, and have used units from many other manufacturers). But if you are paying attention to your settings, the sound quality, both from the line inputs/outputs and microphone preamps, is top notch... I really like the size, as it is not a full 19" across (it does come with rack adapters) and only 6" deep which allows it to fit in my laptop bag, and be my more portable 16 (18 with SPDIF) channel capable unit. The built in console was a bit of a pain at first, as the downloads on Echo's website were not actually the most current, and the console on the included disk worked much better. Echo sent me a link to the most current console for the unit, and now everything is working great... It feels like the company spends their time making great products, and neglects self promotion and website updating. As long as they provide the great customer service I experienced, I don't care how they self promote and update their website (as long as they don't go under because of it). Best interface for the money hands down, and I have experienced many interfaces in this price point (under $1000, under $500). Better internal mix ability than the 828mkii, with it's mixer for each pair of outputs, (828 only supports 4 stereo busses, not the complete 8) much better than the Profire 2626 (which only has 1 stereo output buss, other ouptuts use the aux output method, not as versatile, and more tedious to set up monitor mixes). If you get a chance to get one, do... it is the best "sleeper" interface out there as there is no marketing hype like Focusrite, Presonus, M-Audio, AVID, MOTU, etc. and to my ear it has better quality than other "affordable" options like Tascam etc.Read full review
