Good story, too much swearing
I was very disappointed in this movie. We watched it on Hallmark channel some years back with our daughters now in their twenties and enjoyed it, so I ordered the DVD for our younger daughters (12 and 15) to watch. We ended up taking it off because there was so much swearing in it. It's a shame that the makers of these movies think that everyone wants to listen to that kind of language. We are getting rid of the movie because we will not try to watch it again.I was very disappointed in this movie. The Colt
This is the first video that focuses on cavalry that I have found. Not only is it a great story but I ahve begun using it to recruit cavalry reenactors. The uniforms, equipment, camp, horse tack, and riding styles are very good and give a good picture of cavalry portrayal. The devotion to their animals was quite in contrast to reality as few kept their mounts long enough to become attached to them, but in our unit, the men provided their own and had a vested interest in their welfare. Your movie does our unit proud. I especially liked the characters. Not famous actors, but down to earth, believable characters that played their parts well. The Colt
This movie is now my favorite civil war movie! I love horses and I made up a new word to critique movies; horsetime. This movie has superb horsetime. (See also "The Last Outlaw" with Mickey Rourke and "King Arthur" with Clive Owen) I read another review criticizing the photography - but I feel it well captures the confusion of being lost in the forests of the deep south and battling on horseback, but not so much that the viewer loses perspective. The storyline is also compelling - that it wasnt the north vs. the south, but men vs. men. To think a colt was able to bring out the humanity amidst all the death. Dont even think for a minute that the Hallmark name reduces the realism of hardened soldiers - the dialogue is convincing to say the least, watch the special features too. A powerful ...
