On 'Parkinson' on TV one night I heard Joe Cocker singing the nicest song I'd ever heard. I was asleep and it woke me. Therefore, I didn't know that it was a song from 'Hymn for my Soul'. I didn't know the title and 'googled' Joe Cocker, it took ages to find what I was looking for. It turned out to be 'Pass it on'. I play this particular song every day and the album almost every day. I'm not a particular fan of Joe Cocker although some of his songs I do like. This album is the best! Pass it On is the most beautiful sound I've ever heard. Joe Cocker - Hymn For My Soul
"Hymn For My Soul" was not the Joe Cocker I expected to hear when listening. With time, Joe appears to have mellowed in his style and has developed more of a gospel / soul style with his own and backing vocals. Not the man who sang with Tina Turner, but more of a mellow James Brown style. The album is excellent to listen to, and I enjoyed it but it would not be an album I would put on to listen to, it would be an album to have on in the background and simply hear.
