"Mode 7" Not sure what this means in the instructions, but it doesn't exist on my PS3. Just had to browse a few forums of people with the same issues I had, and everything is working great again. My main problem must have been accumulated dust--I took my PS3 out to the shop after about 'giving up' on this project--blew it clean--and everything is working again. (Yes, I'd already had my PS3 unplugged for almost a month). -- rebooted with the install USB, and the new HD works perfectly !
