This is a Christmas present, so it hasn't been used yet. I bought this discntinued"open box" Sunbeam rotisserie because I read about so many people who raved about the quality of this brand, and that it cooked very evenly, cleaned up easily, and lasted for decades! Many folks who purchased newer rotisseries reported quality issues and said they missed their old Sunbeam model. So I decided to purchase an old "new" Sunbeam.

I bought this vertical electric rotisserie on the recommendation of a friend who uses hers to cook chicken - rather than heating the whole oven to roast one bird. I've used it twice to cook chicken: it holds a 5 pound bird and cooks it to an internal safe temperature in about 1 hour and 50 minutes. As it cooks, the chicken juices drip into the removeable pan in the bottom of the cabinet - and since the first chicken I cooked overflowed the pan (and got down into the base of the cabinet where the turning motor is) on the second chicken I used a turkey baster to suction out accumulated juices about half-way roasting. I suppose I could have just removed the turning basket and dumped the pan, but using the baster seemed easier. The chicken itself is moist and juicy - the turning basket does an excellent job of cooking. The advertising materials that came with the rotisserie talked about a shish-cabob attachment, so I went on-line to find and buy one of those, too. It replaces the roasting basket with a round holder with 8 scewers. I have used it to make baked potatoes - and it works great. The potatoes are just like a good restaurant's fare - with fluffy insides. But, the rotisserie menu booklet says you can make baked potatoes by just putting them inside the regular basket, so I will try that next. (There is no reason they can't be foil-wrapped). So, basically, the separately-sold shish-cabob attachment is not really needed - unless you like to make "meals-on-a-stick", of course. My 4-star star rating for this product (out of 5 possible stars) is because cleaning it isn't as easy as cleaning a roasting pan - but it isn't terribly hard either, (if you don't let the drippings overflow the bottom drip pan and get down into the bottom compartment where the motor is). The inside metal reflector is very easily removeable, as is the center rod, basket, drip pan and the see-through splatter shield. The 750-watt heater element is not removeable (without a screwdriver) but can be washed off with a soapy dish cloth. All-in-all, it takes about 10 minutes to remove, clean, and reassemble all the washable parts. I am glad I bought this item; it is very easy to use. The downside is that it is a product Sunbeam no longer makes, so there is limited opportunity to replace any parts that finally quit working.Read full review

This is the 4th time buying the is rotisserie. It is also the first time I purchased a new unit. The other 3, I purchased at Goodwill. 1 for me and I loved it so much I bought them for my kids. It is so simple to use. Season a roast and put it on the skewer, then calculate cook time. Weight times number of minutes you want to cook it. It will cook and be ready to serve. It has a pan that catches the juices which you can pour over the sliced meat or make gravy. I lost my last one (moving).

This is my second rotisserie. Received as gift and wore out with use. Missed it and wanted replacement. Item was clean and well taken care of.

It is a great cooker. We bought this to replace the one we had. The last one we had lasted for more than 25 years. We probably cooked more than 250 chickens with it. The bearings had become worn out, and it was failing. I prefer this orientation over a horizontal one. It always cooks good whole chickens. I do not cook much else with it.

I had one for several years. I loved it so much I bought a back up that has been in the closet all this time. My first one just went out so I had to get out the back up. This one I purchased is the back up for the back up. If the one I'm using now lasts as long as the first one my kids will end up using this one.

This is the 2nd one of these I've had. Wore the first one out, replaced motor and wore it out again. This one was bought to replace the worn out one after Florence flooded the house. These Sunbeam Rotisseries will rotate a Chicken with the best of them, season and go. Way better than the grocery store or the big box stores could ever be.

This is our second one, and since they are no longer being made what we got replaced the first one. We wish Sunbeam had kept manufacturing it, it made great chicken.
