President John J. Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) replaces Sinclair as the leader of the peaceful space station Babylon 5 in this complete collection of the science fiction program's second season. Among the highlights from this sophomore effort are episodes featuring military troops using the space station as a gathering point to prepare for war, Sheridan killing a Minbari, and the classic episode "The Coming of Shadows" about an aging Centauri emperor who is publicly humiliated while G'Kar tries to assassinate him. The latter episode won a Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation in 1996. Also, watch closely during "And Now For a Word" in which a PSI commercial contains a subliminal message that was banned in France. Season two guest stars include Russ Tamblyn, Richard Moll, and Wanda De Jesus (BLOOD WORK).

I love Babylon 5. Watched the original series in it's day avidly. Bought this set because I missed all of season one and part of season two. However. Of this purchase only 1 disc of season two was completely readable. The others have big, big chunks that won't read. Even saying that, this was a good value. I will simply buy season 2 over again. One disc of season 3 won't even load. Haven't gotten to season 4 yet but I'm hopeful.I love Babylon 5. Watched the original series in it's day avidly. A successful change from Trek and Wars...and itself
Way back in the day, just like all other people interested in "thoughtful science fiction", there were only two successful series, Star Trek and Star Wars. To be blunt, especially now, there still is. But in the nighties, one series split the other two in the middle and actually showed that there was still thoughtful scifi to be made out there. That show was Babylon Five. B5 had it problems though, mainly in the beginning. Many series, good or bad started off slow any a bit corny. B5 was no different. In fact, the acting was a bit awful(and I won't go into the S/Fx. But as its first season continued, it did get a bit better. In fact, it got very interesting. A mystery started on the show and it pulled me in, wanting to watch more. To my joy when season two opened they mad some ... The main guy was switched with a far better actor, one that took the cheesiness of the show out and brought a deeper edge to it. That edge brings me, finally, to the reason I bought the show. It actually was good. So, borrowing from another series, it was only logical to collect something that I did enjoy. The problem I had with it actually isn't the show, but the quality of the box set. The first season's box case insert(the case that actually housed the DVD s) ripped with the first flip of the WAY too stiff pages. I had to resort to some unattractive repairs to keep it intact. Season two has the same problem, but I did learn from that mistake. No duct tape this time. So, even though the series was good, especially in season two, the casing is lousy and really should have been thought through before releasing. Buy it, but be careful with it. Not for rough-housing or houses with clumsy kids.

Babylon 5 as a series had its highs and lows, partly as the five year story arc dictated. Season 2: The Coming of Shadows is definately a high point for the series. This six dvd package includes tons of extras on Discs 1, 4 and 6 including interviews with cast, crew and series creator j. Michael Straczinski. One nice feature is the building of an episode, showing behind the scenes how an episode gets from concept to screen. We see more of the shadow vessels and quite a few space battle scenes with the Narn Centauri war. One especially memorable scene is Lando Molari watching as the Centauri bombard the Narn homeworld. The package is attractive and well made to protect the dvds and comes with a 14 page booklet detailing the contents of each disc and episodes synopses. I really like ... Great TV show. I purchased all 5 seasons to enjoy the show at the best quality possible.Big disappointment! Picture quality surprisingly poor!Out of focus or just blurry....I can't tell.Show quality 5/5 , picture quality 3,5/5.It's a shame. It should be much better! I expected better quality....but it's not all bad,after the first disappointment I enjoyed the show...it is the best quality that's out there for now.Maybe a new issue in HD...?!?Please...Great TV show.
