The main reason that I decided to buy this book is because after reading the book "Lies My Teacher Told Me", I wondered if there were anything written from a native american point of view. This was one of a few that showed up. I am only about a third of a way through it but, it is apparent that the natives got a raw deal. It takes a little bit to get use to with all of the people and tribes that it covers in a short amount of time but, it is apparent that it is a must to get the "big picture" view from their point of view. I wish that there were a little more reference to other sources because one of the bad things about native american history is that some of the stories were sensationalized to make for good reading so, in some cases, it is hard to know what is real and what is fiction. For the most part, the facts seem to bee solid and there are references to prove that the research was put in to make this a solid "must read" for anyone that wants a good look at early American history from a view other that the fiction that is taught in our school systems these days.Read full review
