If your a child of the 60's then this trip down memory lane is well worth the cost. ^_^ I still get a chuckle out of the song-story of Alice's Restaurant as its been 20+ years since I last heard it. Its like Arlo said "Its hard to beleave that someone would even write a silly song like this and still be getting paid to sing it 20 years later" If you like Arlo Guthrie then this CD is for you, the only song missing is (IMHO) it Lighting Bar Blues as I sure used to like drinking Ripple Wine with that song cranked up to the max!
Just what I wanted. Was looking for the original recording of "Alice's Restaurant Massacree," other CDs were later recordings with differences from the original. Sound is perfect. One complaint about the item: No cover notes or songwriting credits. I know Arlo did not write every song, because "City of New Orleans" was written by Steve Goodman. So I couldn't be sure who wrote all the songs & had to look them up. Also have no info on studio musicians, back-up singers, etc. I prefer to have complete cover notes with a CD or album.
All time great Alice's Restaurant - heard it as a small child & then in the 90's. Great story teller - with a real approach to the "Draft". The Motorcycle song story is terrific. A good bit of musical history and a classic. Love it.
