    Designing Tessellations by Jinny Beyer (1999)

    I bought this book to get ideas for creating my own unique quilting patterns. There are many pictures out there of tessellations, but I wanted to create my own rather than copy someone elses. At first the process seemed complicated, but the book has many diagrams and pictures. I love this book and cannot wait to really get into it. Making myself finish two quilts before I start another. This is a great book. One of those that has endless possibilities and will produce different results for everyone who uses it. Great inspiration. I highly recommend it, even if you are not artistic, you CAN create some fabulous designs.

    A Real Mind Stretcher in a Good Way

    Jinny Beyer go to great effort to clearly explain and demonstrate how to make and use various types of tessalations beginning from very basic geometric shapes. Then she goes on to show how to break down the shape into easily cut and sewn pieces. Effective color schemes are discussed in depth and shown through photographs and computer generated pictures. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is interested or thinks they might be interested in doing quilts that are out of the ordinary.

    Serious Quilt Designers Will Love This

    I did not think I could ever understand how Beyer constructed her Tessellation Quilts. This book sets out in detail the history of the tessellation design throughout the world, how the designs are constructed, creating your own tessellation pattern, the importance of color pallet, and beautiful examples. The book is not for a quilter who plans on making a quilt in a day. This book will help you create a one of a kind heirloom quilt.

    Tessellatioons by Jinny Beyer (1999)

    I purchased this book when I became interested in incorporating tessellation to design quilts. The book has many good examples by author, Jinny Beyer as well as art work by notable artist M.C. Escher. The underlying principles of tessellation art are explained in detail, inspiring me to try my hand at this type of design.
