    DMT D8EE XXFINE (8000 Grit) DiaSharp Bench Stone

    At the time of writing, this 8 inch, single-sided stone is the only Extra-Extra-Fine (3 micron, or 8000 grit, according to DMT's product pages) DiaSharp continuous surface diamond hone available from DMT, making it the finest grit stone in their line. It is designed for finish sharpening of cutting edges, which I have found that it does very well on woodworking tools, knives, and swords. I would warn waterstone users not to use any DMT product for dressing their waterstones. According to both DMT, and several horror stories in sharpening forums, the nickel substrate of the diamond hones can be eaten away by waterstone slurry, causing the diamonds to be loosened and removed, permanently ruining the diamond hone.     Good product, works as expected.

    I've only had this for a couple of days so far, but it appears to do a very good job of refining edges on knives & shears. It is a nice thick and heavy piece of metal, which is good. I wouldn't say it's "good value" because it is quite expensive, but I would say it is probably worth what I paid. Time will tell as I want it to last for many years.

    For me it is a must have tool.

    It enables me to put a really fine edge on a blade. I can use it on any flat blade that does not have a concave curve to the cutting edge.
