  • A/229th best helicopter unit in Vietnam

Great book that takes you through the life of a helicopter crewmen in Vietnam. I had the honor to meet Mr. Johnson, at our A/229th reunion in Myrtle Beach in Sept. of 2014. A straight forward GREAT man, with a bonus to meet his darling wife, Pat. What a perfect depiction of life with the 229th. I have read many books on our unit, this one by far is the most accurate as compared to my personal experience of my time with the "Black Bandits from May 1970 thru Feb. 1972. While Mr. Johnson was there 1 1/2 years prior to my assignment to A/229, not much had changed as to our mission. Great feats by humble men. Godspeed to all men who have served in that hellhole. "Welcome Home"
