Help Revive the 1-1/4 Meter Band ---- Buy This One !
Does everything expected and will replace a worn out old Icom. The AT-588 appears to be more robust with more heatsink that other Anytone models. The manual doesn't mention whether this model covers 144 and 440 Mhz or not but I'll try it. There are freatures like theft alarm that I haven't seen before. The red-orange display surprised me since my other Anytone is a color-touch screen. Does everything expected and will replace a worn out old Icom. Think carefully before you buy this radio...
Access to the Volume Control and other simple functions has been made difficult by design making this radio Unsafe to operate while mobile. A properly designed mobile radio can be operated by feel alone, creating minimal distraction to the vehicle operator, and this is Not that radio. The default state of the Only Knob on this rig is to change channel memory positions, so how could the designers not know that constantly adjusting the Volume to compensate for different signals levels and cabin noises, is the most frequent used feature on any mobile radio???, Other than that, this radio operates at least as well as any other low-end transceiver. Bought this so me and my friend who lives one mile from my house could talk on them. The signal did not reach the one mile between my house and hers despite being advertised as three miles. Then one of the walkie talkies broke completely after one week. They are super difficult to use as well and the owners manual has super small writing so it is hard to read the instructions on how to use.
