    A should read before reading self-improvement texts.

    That is not quite accurate. In many ways I felt like I was back in Psychology 101. The maxims were accurate. I would recommend it for those who are unfamiliar with many of the maxims. It is also a refreshing presentation from self-improvement books. I believe the two types of presentation go well together. To better understand many of the self-improvement writings I believe it is well worth understanding the origination of the thought process. I am unable to suggest that this is an exciting reading. Nevertheless, I do believe that it is worth the reading.
