Synopsis
This subversively brilliant, one-of-a-kind rock autobiography ingeniously styled as a biography, is written to capture the essence of Ray Davies, lead singer and songwriter of the Kinks and one of the greatest rock and rollers of all time. Part autobiography, part social history, part psychological thriller, this elusive and daring book exposes rock stardom as the heaven, hell and purgatory it is.

Great seller! The item was as described, a music cd, and arrived promptly ( I have not played it yet but do not anticipate any problems). This seller took an extra step in packaging to ensure the jewel case did not get cracked. He shipped it in a cushioned envelope, and he also inserted a piece of cardboard to ensure the safety of the jewel case. I greatly appreciate this extra effort! Many thanks! I highly recommend this seller!

  • X-cellent book about Ray Davies of the Kinks!

I bought this book because I recently saw Ray Davies perform and I enjoyed the concert so much that I bought his new CD "Other People's Lives", looked up some of his older music and was surprised at all the gems that classic rock radio has forgotton about. I knew hardly any of his music and nothing about him and The Kinks. I didn't know they were banned from touring the US in the 60's. I knew quite a bit about The Beatles, have owned almost all their albums and solo albums, I know a bit of The Who's music and was interested in knowing more about the Kinks. I liked the stories about how the songs evolved and the behind the scenes stories, I also enjoyed the steamy "scenes" which are expected in an autobiography of a "rock star". There is not much that I disliked about the book, except ...
