  • Far-fetched plotting makes this one avoidable

A rather silly novel about a bunch of Americans sent to Cuba to kill Castro, set in the early sixties between the Bay of Pigs and the Missile Crisis. It is never explained why Americans have to do the job, which involves activities Cubans would be perfectly capable of doing themselves (only one of the Americans is a professional killer). Padded out with a potted biography of Castro from a Cold War liberal perspective. Unless you are a Block completist or a fan of Cold War thrillers, I would avoid this one.

  • Vintage Lawrence Block

I really like this book it's fast paced plus the characters are great. This is a suspenseful cutting edge book for the time period when it was written. Lawrence Block did a fine job in writing this book he's a great author.
