another Zahn winner
This is another great book written by Timothy Zahn. Among Star Wars fans he is second only to Lucas in Star Wars story telling. This book takes place years after the Thrawn trilogy and Luke and MAra have mended ways sort of. In the book an ex imperial royal guard (the guys wearing red) finds a Thrawn look alike. He then begins a plan to overthrow the New Republic and foil the peace process. The imperial remnant led by Admiral Pellaon (who served Thrawn) and the New Republic are trying to hash a peace accord. But some old ways die hard and the fake Thrawn and his faction are trying to stop it. Great book must read. Also lok for Vision of the Future by Zahn as it is the conclusion to the story.This is another great book written by Timothy Zahn. Spectre of the Past is a hardcover book that was written by Timothy Zahn. It was released in 1997 by Bantam Spectra books. Timothy Zahn is the best writer in the Star Wars Universe. Plot: The Empire stands at the brink of total collapse. But they have saved their most heinous plan for last. First a plot is hatched that could destroy the New Republic in a bloodbath of genocide and civil war. Then comes the shocking news that Grand Admiral Thrawn—the most cunning and ruthless warlord in history—has apparently returned from the dead to lead the Empire to a long-prophesized victory. Facing incredible odds, Han and Leia begin a desperate race against time to prevent the New Republic from unraveling in the face of two inexplicable threats—one from within and one from without. Excellent book
Great book, excellent trilogy, one of the best I have ever read. Timothy Zahn is a great Star Wars writer. I would not be afraid to read any of his books.
