Great fun to watch!
I was very happy to find "Orangutan Island" at a great price. Even though it is a standard DVD the picture quality was great. Orangutans are so much like Humans. The babies and young orangutans are so fun to watch when they are mischievous. They are smart and figure things out so easily. Now if I can only find season 2 at a great price!

watch how these apes socialize in ways that makes humans look like savages
this is an older show that was on animal planet a couple years ago. they do actually still show it early in the mornings here in my area. I love these animals. I actually knew very little about orangutans until I started watching this show Orangutan Island. I have since studied as much as I could about these very "human-like" apes. they are very interesting. but the whole issue is that these animals will be extinct naturally in the wild in less than 50 years if the current rates don't change. and theres nothing showing that it will change. it is ALL AND ENTIRELY because the deforestation by palm oil plantations. ive seen videos of these land rapists. all they do is come thru and cutdown or dozer down the trees. if there is an orangutan in the tree, they will shoot it. or in some of the ... this is an older show that was on animal planet a couple years ago. they do actually still show it early in the mornings here in my area. BOYCOT ALL PALM OIL PRODUCTS. I have NEVER in my life been a tree hugger or even an environmentalist. in fact I have never recycled a single thing. ever. but, the plight of these animals breaks my heart. its so unbelievable. but then again.... look at how we humans treat our fellow humans. what in the world was I thinking that a "human" would treat one of its evolutionary relatives any better. now that I think of it, maybe the orangutan will be better off if it was extinct after all. then it will never have to go through the horrid treatment and barbarity that their cousins are doing to them.

This is the most fascinating program to come along in years. I would really recommend anyone interested in animal behavior watch this. The part I hate is why why there is even an island they have to be sent to and also the cruelty they have suffered to get there. Thank God for Lorne Droscher-Neilson and her team.. Heartwarming and very funny. Wathe it! Season 2 is just as great.
