I rate this Kenwood R-600 very highly. It is sensitive, has a beautiful and easy to read dial, is easy to tune in to SSB and CW, is very stable, and has a nice tone. The lighted meter is a plus. Basically, this is a very good SW receiver for the serious SW listener, without all the costly and unnecessary frills, and sells for reasonable price. I have had mine for over 30 years with no problems. I can get SW stations from all over the world with no problems.

Back in the mid 80's I decided to get into shortwave radio, being a former US Army Signal Corps guy. The R-600 was my first SWL receiver and I loved it. A marvelous receiver that performed flawlessly for years. I finally sold it to subsidize my photography hobby but I would highly recommend this receiver to anyone. A great introductory radio for new Shortwave hobbyists and a solid performer for the established SWL vet. If you're looking for 'best bang for the buck' you would b e hard pressed to top the Kenwood R-600
