Synopsis
At the time of the Second World War, the United States Army took an unusual approach, for the period, towards the design of its uniforms. Rather than attempt to find an all-purpose outfit, such as the British battledress, it attempted to design special-purpose dress for every possible duty, from combat in cold climates to dress parades in hot ones. Here Philip Katcher provides an extensive examination of the many different types of uniform and equipment which saw service during the conflict.

  • GREAT (WW2) "G.I." REFERENCE !

    - A "descent" referance for the Militaria Collector, Modeler, & Enthusiast of the WW "G.I." - Though artwork better in later editions, these are ok and look accurate to by experience 30 + years researching & collecting U.S. WW2 Military Materiel (w/ special interest in uniforms. field & webgear) - Seems well edited, & I know of no specific 'blunders' here (though I admit I use as a reference not a 'reader' EVERY word "bible") - Recommend esp to the younger & less-experienced (really an overall excellent, if BASIC/ in-expensive sb book that most of us SHOULD own - if only to remind 'us' of America's LAST WINNING WAR more than 70 years ago CGR / 01 Nov 20 .
