I was faced with several choices when looking for a remote starter for my Better Half's 2015 Mazda CX5 with Push to start and advanced door lock package.
I looked at the OEM Mazda device which nice as it was, needed two fobs and a second mortgage for purchase of two parts and install fees.
Best-buy couldn't be bothered to call me back with prices or details.
So after much research, I those this Fortin device because
1. it used the OEM Key-fob
2. It doesn't need the "sacrifice" of a fob strapped inside the car somewhere).
3. Easy to follow diagrams and install manual.. The only thing I had to work out was how to extricate the turn signal switch.
the only tools I needed, was a flashlight, Decent Soldering iron (although wire connectors could have worked but may get loose over a period of time), some electrical tap, Wire-cutters and screwdrivers.. No special tools per-say.
Tech Support was incredibly helpful when I was doing the research into which version to use and which manual and diagram.. All in all, a VERY worthwhile investment with excellent support .. Kudos to Fortin
I found this product to work as advertised. I’m using the factory key for to start my car by pressing the lock button 3 times. It does stop when a door is opened but that isn’t a big deal. I did find a bit of confusion with the instructions that came with it. They differed from what I found on their website. However, with the help of some YouTube videos I found I could omit the “mandatory” hood pin step and all is well!
