    Fine study dedicated to the Battle of Stones River

    Well written description of the events leading up to, and the battle of Stones River. Mr. Cozzens tells the story from both sides of the contest while not getting bogged down in small unit movements. He includes brief biographies of the individuals involved on a command level and common soldiers. His style adds to the information and is an important part of this review. Through his prose you can feel the cold, hunger and discomfort the troops endured The maps are many and excellent. They help in understanding the troop movements and terrain. The only minor issue I had with the maps is the fact that they do not include the command level name of the troops involved: ie, he does have the brigade commander names but not the division or corps commander information. Not a big thing but ...
