    Basic reliable and compact. That's what you get. No frills.

    I've had one of these a long time ago and it had to be the radio I would go back to after all these years. I've had Cobras and Galaxies and though the need for a CB has changed, I still need a basic radio. This is the one. Small, compact, reliable, and inexpensive. A great, reliable product. I definitely recommend if you want a basic radio.

    WORKS BUT

    So I saw good reviews on this little radio. My old 1990 Radio Shack in m y truck was getting old and not hearing too good anymore, so picked this from the good reviews. NOT. I cannot see the display during daylight hours without cupping my hand over it, the receiver sensitivity is same or worse than my old radio. Don't waste your money on it. (I use a full 1/4 wavelength whip with 1.2:1 SWR, so it is NOT my antenna)

    Nice features and compact, I hope rugged too.

    This radio has some good features, and is compact, exactly what I was looking for. Sort of funny, on other reviews I read that this radio is recommended because it's rugged, but no where on the packaging does it mention anything about being rugged or extra rugged. The big feature that seems to be highlighted on the box is 7W speaker, "more powerful" than others. Even though ruggedness is not mentioned on the box, perhaps those reviewers do have first hand knowledge of this attribute, as this is also a feature I am also in need of. I expect this radio will be great, time will tell.

    Great all around radio

    I've had cb radios for over 40 years and have owned mostly Cobra units for over the road driving, but when they eventually fail, a Uniden fills the spot and works perfect every time. I had a 510XL for 30 years and it finally gave up on me last week, so I knew I had to get another one and of course the 520XL is a bit nicer and has a few more features. Its compact size makes it perfect for swapping in and out of vehicles with no problem. You can spend a lot more on the same technology, but why?
