Now you can play out these confrontations on the tabletop with entire fleets drawn from the Royal Navy, US Navy, Imperial Japanese Navy, German Kriegsmarine or any of the other nations featured in Victory at Sea.
This is probably the Naval miniatures board wargame I've been looking for over a year now. I ended up buying what was available before Victory at Sea but this was clearly what I was looking for. A fast paced no nonsense set of Naval gaming rules that doesn't drag it out with a ton of superfluous nonsense that doesn't do anything but burden a whole gaming system like Command at Sea to make it unplayable! I highly recommend Victory at Sea for anyone looking for a fast but detailed simulation of Naval and Air combat in WWII. As with any good game system it can easily be adapted to different time periods with pretty straightforward modifications. If I have any minus to the game it is the miniatures that come with the game. It's probably just a matter of preference but I have my own made in the same scale via 3D printing which produce a much more detailed model at a lower cost out of multiple plastics. Without a base. Personally I don't care for the base myself. However I still give a five star rating as the miniatures will do find if you decide to go that route.
Be aware that, unlike Axis and Allies, War at Sea, and Star Wars tabletop miniatures, which come ready-to-play, these Victory at Sea minis are UNASSEMBLED and UNPAINTED, which takes much of the fun out of them. Painting 1/1800 scale models is difficult.
