Rather solid, larger capacity internal SATA hard drive.

It's a standard OEM 6TB hard drive.. It works. It has no surface errors. Would I purchase another? YES. And from these people as well. It's quite snappy with it's large cashing, and it runs cooler than I expected. One month down the road, and we're still happy campers. HGST may not be a diner-table name at home, but one doesn't need expensive, massive advertisement with good, solid products which speak for themselves. When one chooses that rout, one can put all those Advertising $$ into the product. `Not wasted on yesterday's news paper lining the "Cat Box".

    • Great value

I've used HGST Ultrastar drives in my DS418 Synology home server now for about a year or so. And being as these are refurbished drives, they have performed well. Since I don't have my server on 24/7, these drives proved to be very cost-effective for my needs. I've researched HGST before I decided to buy them and from the reviews that I had read, they were most favorable. In the short time that I've had them, I would agree 100%. I'll update this after I put more hours on them.

The drive is working, but it took some effort (that *I* probably didn't need to take, but I did). This drive is a pull from a Dell server (had Dell bracket), was part of a RAID, and not wiped. When added to my Linux wkstn, I had to use mdadm to remove the superblocks so I could repartition the disk. (If it's not going into a RAID/NAS, you may have to do similar) I then added it to my NAS and it successfully rebuilt my RAID. SMART had 0 bad sectors, ~44K hours, and a few dozen power cycles.

    • Quality and Great Service for the Price

Considering the risk of drive failure, my experience after purchasing many refurbished 4TB & 6TB HGST Ultrastars is that they are cost-effective for file storage and multiple backups. Some HGST refurbs have even been in use for over 3 years as regularly-backed-up secondary drives in desktop PCs.

    • Great drive for lots of storage.

So far so good on being reliable, only time will tell just how so. Storage space is great, just what I needed to keep the data backed up on top of game installs that are really big. Speed is not bad considering it is a HDD and not an SSD device so no complaints from me there.
