About this product

Product Information

While influenced by the film franchise, Mad Max is not directly based on any one of the four movies. The game features an original story set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland with open world gameplay. As the story unfolds, Max loses his Interceptor car to marauders and is left for dead. To survive, players will need to work with a skilled mechanic called Chumbucket to build what he dubs the "Magnum Opus." Over the course of the game the Magnum Opus' chassis, engine, armor, and weapons can be upgraded. Equipment and guns can also be crafted for Max to use in melee combat and shootouts.

Most of the game's action takes place in vehicles, with gamers exploring several different regions, each containing unique landmarks and ruins, as well as events like races, time trials, and raids on enemy forts and convoys. There are bosses in each region as well, and as players complete activities they lower the threat level of each area. Gamers can also find parts for the Magnum Opus scattered throughout the wasteland, and a special unmapped area contains rare items for the vehicle, but the landscape is fraught with sandstorms and contains no food or water.

I rocked it start to finish!

You can't beat the price, it's an awesome deal. I loved this game, honestly. It felt like an extension of Mad Max: Fury Road, which made my brain @#$% its pants. If anything, it's the ultimate Mad Max simulator - and it looks stunning. If you dig the Batman Arkham style combat system, this is your bit. Admittedly, there's some filler and busy work, but that's to be expected. Unlike most open world RPG-type games, it's a means to an end by building the ultimate wasteland speed demon! I'm not even into photography but I found myself playing with the Photo Editor feature for hours! BUY IT.

    This game sucks!!

The guy can’t climb, u have to hold the buttons down hecka long for everything. The map sucks, everything kills you and it’s hard to find health and stuff to help u out and ur health bar doesn’t go up over time. This is the worst game I own. Horrible horrible horrible can’t huge let down. Reminds me of a ps1 game with ps3 graphics. It even says game over when you die like in the 90’s

  • Give it a shot

Great game and really went under the radar. The graphics are pretty decent, the world is fairly expansive and large, and the tasks are challenging and fun. While it doesn't quite capture the manic energy of the movie, it is a decent homage to the world and characters.

  • similar to rage 2 but in mad max world

this was a really good game. i like the mad max world that was built in this game. there were plenty of missions and decent fighting. graphics were good and i ran into some nugs but not enough to ruin the game for me. i recently beat it and i felt triumphant.

  • Mad Max PS4

The closing of Telltale was a BIG signal to stop doing digital, season pass & pre-order games. I'm now buying a few physical copies of PS4 games. Mad Max is a great over-rated classic to own! Thank you.

  • Gameplay is not clear

The game is cool. I'm stuck on a mission and it's not clear HOW to complete it. The missions before were pretty easy to understand. Drive. Shoot. Build a car. Drive shoot...you get the picture. It's fun.

  • Fun for any mad max fan

I love mad max since I was young and this game put you right in the middle of Max’s world. I also like the customization on max and vehicles

  • Underrated game

Extremely underrated game, with great graphics. Amazing value now, if you've watched the Mad Max movies and like the world they've created, you will enjoy this game...

  • Incredible open world

In all of my years playing video games, this rates as one of the best I have played. This game is just such a pleasure to play. The graphics are one of the best of this generation so far. Gameplay is fluid and engaging, always something interesting to explore. Mad Max really nails the feeling in being in a apocalyptic setting with the sounds, fighting for fuel, water and survival. I honestly can not stop playing it, I try for a couple days and play something else, but during that time I think (I could be playing Mad Max instead) lol. Everyone enjoys different games so I can not say everyone will be guaranteed to enjoy it. If you like open world apocalyptic games, with great vehicle combat, exploration, polished graphics, incredible sound (even the ps4 controller has sounds coming out it!!) and just an overall fun game, give it a shot.

  • If you like Just Cause, Batman, Shadows of Mordor... You'll like this.

Honestly, this game is for the casual gamer that wants to blow stuff up and brawl for a few hours and get their fix. I read a lot of reviews before I bought this game. Personally, I bought Metal Gear Solid when it came out instead of Mad Max. I played Metal Gear for a few days and love it, although, while playing I also watched people play Mad Max on Twitch and couldn't help myself, I had to try it even though it received alot of mixed reviews. Alot of reviewers said it is repetitive and It is, but in a very good way. I compare it to mixing Just Cause with Batman / Shadow of Mordor. I LOVE Just Cause but that game is about as repetitive as they get BUT there's something about Just Cause that makes you want to find all the loot, collectibles, side quests and keep blowing everything to pieces. Considering Mad Max was created by the Just Cause studio, it had me hooked after the first few hours. I just want to keep looting, brawling and bring down the threat levels in each territory and blowing up anything in sight. I have now played Mad Max a total of 27 hours and I'm at 45% completed with a map littered with things to do still. Compare this to how much I've played Metal Gear... Metal Gear I've played for 6 hours since I've had it. I finally decided to complete Mad Max before Metal Gear. Absolutely fun game for the casual gamer. I'm not into story. I want pure gameplay, brawling, slow-mo hits and explosions and for a few hours at a time that is a thing of beauty!
