    THE REFERENCE FOR SONG WRITING CRAFT

    The craft of songwriting is just that - a formula for commercial success. Sure, everyone has something to say and a unique way of saying it but why are so few songs Mega Hits? Sometimes its the allure of the act, the artist, or the vibe of the act, but more often it is the songs that people relate to that make for stardom - case in poiint Billy Joel. Love him or hate him - who sells out Madison Square Garden as a regular day job? Is the looks of the artist? No - it's the SONGS. This book, along with Great Song Writing Ideas by the same author shows the method - the classroom - on creating good songs. I recommend it.

    great basic lyric writing book

    This book was recommended by a friend in West Coast Songwriters organization. Published in 1985, some of the commentary on 'contemporary music' reads a little dated, but the general, basic content is excellent, well laid out and easy to digest. A great reference book, as well as a source of inspiration.
