Its nice to have desktop performance from my gaming laptop

I love being able to plug all of my gaming accessories and printer into the graphic amps usb 3.0 ports and only having to connect 1 easy cable to my laptop and have desktop performance playing my games and what not.. then when I need to go I unplug the 1 cable and pack my laptop up in its case and game on the go. the internal gtx970m is still plenty good enough for portable gaming. If I'm going to be away from home for ahwhile I bring the graphics amp too, lol.. its not that big and fits into my duffle bag with all my cloths and stuff... so this is definitely worth what it does. I still would much rather have sockets on my 17r3's motherboard though for the cpu and gpu. even though the graphics amp is awesome, it would still be nice to upgrade my gtx970m to a gtx1080 and in a few ...

  • Top critical review

For the price not very well constructed

It works fine except for the fact that the power cable might pop out also the cable that connects to my laptop does it fit very well in pops out in the slightest movement makes my laptop shut down because the power cable might come out it fits my GTX Titan X Pascal which is good but it needs a little work build quality wise.

  • Awesome - But know it's limits

I purchased the 9R7XN because MY version of the Alienware 17 R3 has the 4k screen. But the internal 3g Nvidia video card (while awesome at 1080p games) struggled at 3840 × 2160. The 9R7XN allows the use of an external video card while using either an external monitor...or in my case....feeds the image back to my laptop monitor. It does this seamlessly. I thought that feeding back into my laptop's 4k screen it would be choked and not as fast as feeding it to the external. But, it was just as fast. I run 2160 Fallout absolutely maxed out and it absolutely maxes the fps. So here is where you ask "what did you put in the AGA (Alienware Graphics Amplifier). And this is where we come to the good...or the bad. The AGA has a limit of 10 inches on graphic card length. My card of choice was the ...

  • Works week but that cable needs to go

Great way to upgrade your laptop. It could be improved with a littler more height to for larger cards and to get ride of the low profile screws which strip easily and are hard to replace. The cable is also far too fragile at the laptop side for frequent docking, they should have used a docking base like their latitude line.
