Usually I keep my phone charged at my desk at work or home, but there are times I get caught without a charge heading out the door so I just grab this juice pack and slide the phone inside and I'm good for the rest of the day. So much more convenient than using a wired external battery pack. As for protection from bounces, it's OK, not the best, but good enough.

This Mophie Juice Pack has drained my battery making my phone almost unusable. Before I started to use this my iPhone's battery was listed as VERY GOOD at about 8% of used battery life. It has suddenly dropped down to 21% of battery life and is now listed as BAD. I am not happy with this item at all and would not recommend.

Reviews were good so I ordered. Did not come fully charged like box said, so I charged it. The next day I turned on when my phone was at 23%, it only charged it to 51% before dying. Not what I was expecting when I was hoping for more than one charge. My portable battery pack does better than this morphie case.
