I just moved into a new house with all hardwood floors and all I had is the big Dyson vac for carpets. Even tho I'm going to keep the big vac for area rugs...I needed something I could skoot around with for the wood areas. I read the reviews for this little vac...and thought it was just what I needed and it WAS!! Great little vac. My only 2 problems with it are: 1) the cord is way too short for my needs. It seems I have to unplug and plug in again every few swipes due to lack of coverage area from the length of the cord. Also...it's made of all plastic...and a part on the canister has already broken off with repeated use. Other than those two problems...this is a great little vacuum for hardwoods.
i bought this because of spine and knee injuries. it's great for smooth surfaces. maneuvers in corners, under furniture, ceilings, drapes, etc. it's a great "GO TO" tool. gets pet hair, dust, etc. off floor sufficiently. NOT larger items. floss and thread will lock the bar and you have to remove everything. no big deal. THE CORD IS ENTIRELY TOO SHORT. you have to move the vacuum often. you'll run over the cord also as the machine just moves wherever. no stability. which may or may not be convenient. you can carry it in your hand if you'd rather. that eliminates frustration of cord getting in the way so much. machine falls over a lot. if that doesn't bother you, and we'll see over time how the machine holds up with all of this falling over, cord being ran over, etc, it's absolutely perfect for quick vacuums, apartments, and the like. i would not use it for deep cleaning.Read full review
If you need to clean no more than 900sf and you don't have pets than this machine is for you. Size, capacity and weight is balanced perfectly. It does the job really well on hardwood floors and small carpets. Only thing I don't like about it is that carpet brush is small and powered by air and in my opinion that is a major design flow. You can actually stop the brush from spinning by simply pressing it down on the floor. I did noticed that you can actually buy larger brush that will fit this vacuum but it's expensive.
The vaccum pressure is good. The beater bar does not have a seperate motor and uses air to spin the brush. The crevas tool has an adjustablie brush that is good for dusting furntiure. The smaller canister is easier to clean and empty then the upright model. I find the hose to be a bit stiff but in time may become more flexible.
This Dyson is not new to me I had one before but I guess it was so good my came up missing. This one is light weight compact and powerful for wood or marble floors. It make cleaning the wood on the stairs a breeze. Not to mention under the couch cushions. The noise is not a jet engine and its easy to move around and dump what you pick up. I wonder why they discontinued this unit.
