This unique product just makes sense. Being able to bring your own headphones or earbuds or whatever is so much better than having the receiver built into a specific headphone. (I also own the Sennheiser RS-195 Headphone transmitter receiver). This way of earbuds are more comfortable you can use those, or if you have a set of headphones that you like you can use those. The quality is great and the ability to select from different sound profiles, including one that emphasizes dialogue, is nice too. Although I have never liked any setting but one for either system. I wish that the receiver used standard AA or AAA batteries so that i could easily replace them when the battery pack wears out (the RS-195 system does use standard batteies, which can be rechargables.) The controls are a bit convoluted, using minimal buttons for multiple functions like so many things do these days. I'm not a fan of that because I can't ever remember the long presses and which button does what. For example, I am glad that I don't need to adjust the right/left balance because it's too hard to figure out how to do this. And the way to change th sound profile is similarly unintuitive, but thankfully most people will find a profile that they like and stick with it. It seems to remember your last setting. There is a noticeable hiss during very quiet parts of the program, but it seems to go away as soon as the audio signal gets a bit louder. That's not great, but it doesn't bother me a lot since it goes away. Maybe there's a way to avoid this using the right volume on your TV or amplifier (you adjust your headphone or earbud volume with the + or - buttons on the receiver, your TV's volume doesn't affect the volume that you hear) but I haven't figured it out. The build quality is good and so is the sound quality. Good enough for music I would say, but I have taken online tests and know that my ears/brain can't tell the difference between very high quality and standard high actually audio. Someon with more attuned ears may have complaints, but I'd say it's surprisingly good for something sold as a TV solution. Read full review

I already had top of the line headsets , so needed a transmitter with a long battery life. Also I wanted to use it with the headphone jack on my receiver. This set up shuts my main speakers off while using headphone jack. The unit has a distortion compensation so even at high volume, the unit plays quietly. Now with the flex I can walk around the room with no wires impeading me and also not disturb the others in the house. Recommend over having to use provided headsets.

I am now able to hear television shows without disturbing others. This is a great product for my application and the sound is fantastic. I can walk anywhere in the house and hear the television clearly. I would purchase this again if the need arises.

The Flex 5000 is fantastic as this allows the user to pick out what ever headphones they want to use. Keep in mind that the headphones need to be wired not wireless. Many wireless headphones allow you to use a wire as well. By using a high quality headphone the sound quality is tremendous. I have a supplemental receiver which allows someone else listen as well an each controls their own volume. The other good aspect about these as opposed to others I looked at is that the sound feed into the base can be either optical or wired.

Allows me to listen to TV when it is muted to others. No more complaints about noise when others go to bed....Excellent price.
