To be quite honest I don’t know how to review THE TESTAMENT (1999). John Grisham is one of my favorites, that goes without saying, but even giants like JG, once in a while, produce a novel that is not up to their standards, and this book is one of them. This is not to say that the next reader may not be quite satisfied, it just didn’t hold water with me. The first few pages—and I do mean few—were exciting. But the first two-thirds of the book were so unGrisham-like. It was slow, monotonous and a lot of wasted words. Too many characters were introduced too soon, and I though it was overwhelming. I almost put the book down but curiosity and the benefit of the doubt got better of me and I continued on. It became somewhat exciting at the last one-third, yet the climax I was longing for never materialized. I am, however, not in a position to recommend or not to recommend it. Many readers may not agree with my review. JG remains the master as far as I am concerned. THE TESTAMENT, however, conveyed a strong positive message: that worldly possessions aren’t everything.Read full review
The Testament is about selfishness and selflessness of human nature. The families of a billionaire bicker when they find out they are disinherited. Their greed overtakes good sense and soon they find themselves in a nasty battle attempting on keeping an 'unknown' heir from her eleven billion dollar inheritance. I found it very compelling and interesting. I would recommend it.

The Testament by John Grisham is one of the best books I have ever read. Grisham tells a wonderful story about family, greed, love, hate, and adventure. I highly recommend this book.
