  • a massive value to the researcher...

This is a massive book on the subject of the the US Civil War. I chose it because of its special content. I contains hundreds of newspaper articles from the period leading up to the Civil War as well as period coverage of the battles. Therefore it is far more valuable than a modern book on the subject. As a research tool on the history of those days in is invaluable. It is also a reasonable defensive weapon at about 10-15 lbs you could conk somebody with it.

  • As Paul Harvey would say" Now Here's the rest of The Rest of the Story"

This historical coverage tells the story just about like it was. I gave my original to my grandson who uses it in history debates and NO ONE has been able to refute ANY factual evidence from this book. If you go in to this book without any pre-concieved ideas of what caused this conflict you will pretty well come out with the truth. This book should be utilized in ALL American History Classes however if it were the re-written version that they teach would be exposed for what it really is and that is A BUNCH of GARBAGE.

  • One of the best history books I've ever seen. Recommended!

Pretty awesome book for any history lover! Especially for people who are into the Civil War, as it has all the original information found from the famous Harper's Magazine printed in the 1800's as well as awesome pictures. There is soo much information, new things can be learned just through this book alone. It's huge with lots of neat history reading material.

  • Very informative

This is a very informative reference but bulky to use. As a reader it is a little hard to handle but in a library setting it works well. I have not determined the accuracy of the material contained in this reference.
