The D3400 is wonderful for my needs: family, vacations, photo hobby, occasional publication. It can be a simple way to connect photos instantly to social media, or a finely-tuned instrument for creating seriously good images. I do miss the automatic sensor cleaning feature that has been dropped. But the new AF-P (silent and faster focusing) lens is great, and the instant Bluetooth connectivity is super for sending (reduced resolution) images to my phone, while I'm shooting. I highly recommend this camera for anyone who just wants great quality photography in any light, fast and easy.

good starter DLSR camera. The settings are easy to get use too. Even though it does not have WIfi it has a good battery life. The "kit lens" is not bad. you can get some good shots if you're using the camera for everyday use or to use to sell products on line. The camera is light and the flash is decent. you can access the camera manual settings pretty easy

This camera was a gift to my wife. It is a major upgrade from her old camera. It comes with a few extra lenses, that she is still learning to use. So far the quality has been fantastic. She has been watching videos on YouTube to teach herself how to use manual mode. Auto mode doesn’t give you the light exposure your need on certain occasions.

I like taking photos in natural low light and this Nikon is exceptional for that purpose. It doesn't work with all of my Nikon Nikkor lenses. It does work with the DX VR AF-S G ED ones. It does work with the Nikon Snapbridge software allowing auto downloading to your cell phone, but it also a battery hog for both the camera and the cell phone, so get a few spare batteries so you don't get caught short. The 6000x4000 resolution produces sharp photos.

While I have not yet put it to the real test, the few photos I have taken with it were very sharp and that's what I was looking for in a camera. Light weight, easy to use, exceptional clarity. It will be put to good use in September as I visit the ancient city of Cremona, Italy and home to the greatest violin maker, Antonio Stradivari. I actually bought the camera for that purpose. My arsenal also includes a Canon D30 with a compact telephoto lens, but weighs at least 3 lbs, heavy to lug around and clarity and sharpness of photos not as good as the Nikon.
