The bell modes of a turntable platter are a source of self-noise that subtly take away from the recording. The TD150 platter is well behaved but with this large polymer ring the recording steps forward as the platter is silenced. This definitely works. The additional rotational inertia is a bonus dampening motor cogging and stabilising the speed some more. The SRM Tech platter damping ring is a steal for the level of performance it brings out of recordings.
