  • Magical Book - Thoughtful and Uniquely Illustrated

This book's message is simple, yet its art is somewhat abstract. So it may be more suitable for older children? I have loved Peter Parnall's art for a very long time. Not to sound too academic, but his use of lines is simply amazing. I have spent many minutes poring over just one picture, taking delight in all the details Mr. Parnall chisels out with his mighty pen. If you're an animal lover, as is Mr. Parnall (I read somewhere that he had wanted to become a veterinarian), you have found a kindred spirit. This book received a Caldecott Medal in 1976. Well worth the price!
