The Sterling Audio ST51 Condenser Wireless Consumer Microphone is a wireless, mono mic with a true-condenser large diaphragm recording system. It offers excellent transient response and detail in your audio in a simple light device that delivers high performance and true-to-life sound, whether you are capturing, music, narration, or shooting a video. The ST51’s 6-micron, gold-evaporated Mylar diaphragm is optimized to capture definition and detail for both vocal and instruments. Being mono, it is very directional as well so it does not capture any back noise unless it is loud or obvious. Thanks to the Class-A FET circuitry the ST51 also features unparalleled smoothness and warmth to your recordings. It also has a disk resonator that extends high frequencies naturally of your voice or the music. The ST51 uses phantom power (labeled as +48 V on most equipment), which sends DC voltage through microphone cables. This is a specially developed power source for condenser microphones that doesn’t require batteries and many active DI also use it because of its quality as well as electronic power and reliability. This also means you don’t have to worry again about the batteries dying at inconvenient times while shooting or singing, whether you are in the studio or out in the field. It has a large 1.25-inch all brass capsule and has been oven-baked for long-term stable operation. The body is made of black nickel-plated brass and a stainless-steel head with a grille assembly and a custom-wound nickel core output transformer. It uses a HM-2 hard mount, is 7.5 inches long by 1.8 inches wide and weighs 1.2 pounds. The individual pieces were then hand assembled. The fact that it is handmade enhances the aesthetics of your music or video sound and gives the mic durability. Of course, being wireless means it is mobile and you never need to worry about get caught up in cords and cables.     ST51 - a solid performer.

    Great price. Second ST51 I've purchased and they sound great at a bargain price. Solidly built, true condenser rather than electret. Only thing that would make it nicer would be having a low roll off switch, bu you need o get the ST55 to have that feature.I like he discrete components rather than SMD. Overall solid sound with crisp highs and good presence..

    My new forever mic!

    This mic came recommended by my voice-over coach/mentor. It's been years since I've done VO work and I'm reviving an old skillset after years of doing other things. This particular mic amplifies the highs in my vocal timbre while maintaining rich lows -- perfect for brightening a mature woman's voice. It makes recording to get the sound quality I need that much easier! My coach was on point!

    Decent mic

    For the price, the mic is decent. Haven't really used it much yet but it sounds alright from what I can tell. Did come with some minor marks on it from what I'm assuming was a shock mount but that's it. Good price too
