About this product

Product Information

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance offers a decidedly console-styled take on Black Isle's AD&D-based Baldur's Gate series. Though the game features the same basic isometric third-person perspective as its acclaimed predecessors on the PC, its gameplay is designed to offer a steady flow of "hack and slash" dungeon-crawling action. While a good story is important to any worthwhile role-playing adventure, the player may become more immediately involved with the particulars of the single Player Character in BG: Dark Alliance, as the solitary plotline removes some of the (otherwise welcome) distractions of group interaction and party management. An all-new game engine designed specifically for this title makes use of the GameCube's combination of higher-end specifications, offering detailed textures and impressive dynamic lighting effects.

Early 2000's RPG Nostalgia in a Bite Size Package

I'd never played this game when it came out, but having grown up with many similar games (i.e. Runescape), this was a nice foray into that nostalgia without needing to commit oh so many hours.

  • An RPG for those who don't like RPG-style gameplay

The typical RPG to me seems a little stale in terms of gameplay. I mean most of the time you just select attack or magic and then cast it, but it requires very little skill or strategy. Hell, you might as well put your characters on autopilot in most situations. That's why the Baldur's Gate series on the consoles is so good. Now don't confuse these with the PC games of the same name because the gameplay on the PC games is way, way different than it is here. In Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance you complete quests, fight enemies and equip your character with new weapons and armor that you buy from merchants. In this game you can use a variety of weapons, depending on the character you choose from the outset, a man, an elf, or a dwarf. They all have different fighting characteristics, types of ...

  • Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (Game Cube, 2002)

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance features a distinctive blend of action and adventure set in the most popular Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting: The Forgotten Realms franchise owned by Wizards of the Coast Inc. Played from a third person perspective, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance immerses players in the port town of Baldur's Gate. Faithful adaptation of the third edition rules set for the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game and customizable player and character development allow for an engrossing gameplay experience for up to two players at once. Dramatic spell effects and powerful abilities enhance this action-packed game, assisting the player in combat against an abundance of terrifying monsters found throughout the adventure.

  • Great game with hours of fun!

This game NEVER gets old! I just wish they had made more than two of them! I played the Champions of Norrath and really enjoyed those as well!

  • Must play if you're a fan of the genre.

Only complaint is that could've made the game longer. However it's still a great game.
