I've only used it once for steak and onions. I used charcoal briquettes. These took a good hour to be able to cook on them and I probably needed a another layer to bring the heat closer to the grill. However it provided a steady heat to do the steaks 5 mins each side ( well done for me). Having onions ready on the side plate was a bonus. As a fire pit it doesn't take much fuel and easily managed. When cold I move to where I want the ash, raise the sides and hose out, dry and re-coat with oil. The tools could do with a bit of refinishing to smooth the edges. Something I'll do .

Not as good as expected. Okay for 2 people. Rusted up after 1 week. Grill could have been better design.Would have been better if the whole surface would have been a grill because the hotplate section is average for my needs. A little disappointed for the money. Could have had the same effect with a small metal box & a bit of chicken wire & saved money, in my opinion. Possibly good for camping but I purchased for sole use in the garden for a small Barby. Does the job but could be better!

We purchased this grill in readiness for our 5 day camping trip in Devon. It was very easy to assemble and even easier to use. I the love ‘hot plate’ as is cooks with a hot and even heat allowing you to get the best out of your ingredients. We cooked scallops which seared beautifully on the outside while remaining tender and sweet on the inside. The griddle will give you perfect steak/burgers with griddle lines every time. The barbecue itself has a real feel of quality about it and is very sturdy. It also burns the charcoal very efficiently, with the coals remaining hot overnight until morning from just one small bag of self lighting charcoal. Very impressive. It is easy to clean once disassembled and is very compact for storing. Would be great if a carry case could be designed around this barbecue for greater portability with other camping gear. If anyone knows of one out there, please let me know. As with all barbecues, and British holidays, we encountered a bit of surface rust following a short spell of rain. This was easily wiped clean, but I would advise rubbing the grill and griddle down with a small amount of cooking oil if you plan to leave the barbecue outside for any extended period of time. All in all, very pleased with this purchase, a great bit of kit. Read full review

Used this over a 4 night camp. impressed with the quality of manufacture and the thickness of the steel. Very easy to assemble and very stable. Stood it on bricks to stop damage to the grass due to low ground clearance. Takes a while to get the coals all ready for cooking due to limited air flow in the middle of the q. Once ready, held good heat and cooked very well on both grill and flat top. cooked for 4 easily. woke in the morning and with a little stoking and a short wait ~20mins.....cooked bacon and egg. Make sure you take the time to season the steel if you can....makes a reasonable non stick surface. Very easy to strip down and clean once cooled.
