This DVD is a good, basic workout for someone just starting out with exercising or someone with a bit more experience. I consider myself a more advanced exerciser so it was tough to make this workout a challenge for me. The workout is divided into two sections - a lower and an upper body workout. Each has it's own warm-up and stretch with about 15-20 minutes of exercises in between. Each workout consists of very traditional moves...the lower body workout has squats, lunges, dead lifts, etc., while the upper body section has bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, rows, presses, etc. To make it more challenging for me, I used heavier weights - I held 15 lbs weights for all the lower body work and used 8, 12, and 15 lbs for the upper body work. It was a good workout but nothing compared to Jari, Jillian or Jackie. Also, there is absolutely no ab work...how can you call it total body with no ab/core work included?? A BIG positive to the workout is the instructor, Kendell Hogans. This guy is infectious!! I want to do the workout again just because he makes it so much fun. He gets the other exercisers cheering and smiling...you can't help but join in. A lot of fun and very motivating. So if you need a basic workout with a great instructor, try this DVD.Read full review
This workout is great for people who need a little extra energy and motivation. The instructor is super sculpted (easy on the eyes), enthusiastic, and friendly. He talks alot about how and what the moves do ("this works your " ......), and really motivates you without being pushy or obnoxious. I thought I wouldn't be able to keep up with the fast paced, dance-inspired moves, but at the end not only did I get through the whole workout without feeling overworked, but I enjoyed the dance style tempo while feeling my muscles working. I would recommend this fast paced, fun workout to anyone. The only thing I felt was missing from this DVD was a concentrated ABS toning section - that would have made it a more complete workout. However, the DVD does give you exactly what it promises.
Kendall Hogan is the best instructor I have ever seen. Use to have a taped Bodyshaping step video of his that I wore out. He is motivational and his cues are excellent. Not too chatty, but enough to keep you going. This video is an awesome workout, that included moves I haven't done on any videos I own to date (I have a ton). You will feel it! Would buy again if I needed to!
This is a great video. It is for people who are in decent to good shape. It is divided into 2 sections upper and lower body. It is a challenge. The music is good and the instructor is great. He is knowledgeable, personable, and energetic. I use this on days off from the gym. It is worth the money!
