Reviews
"The text is extremely clear and concise delivering exactly what the student needs to know in a pinch - nothing more, nothing less. It is an indispensable resource for any student of physical chemistry." -Gregory S. Engel, Harvard University "Mathematics for Physical Chemistry is a comprehensive review of many useful mathematical topics...The book would be useful for anyone studying physical chemistry." -Daniel B. Lawson, University of Michigan-Dearborn "The student will derive benefit from the clarity, and the professional from a concise compilation of techniques stressing application rather than theory. Recommended." - SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING AND INSTRUMENTATION, "The text is a fairly easy read, well laid out, and laced with examples that serve to illustrate several concepts at once, thus obviating the necessity of hundreds more. The student will derive benefit from the clarity, and the professional from a concise compilation of techniques stressing application rather than theory. As such this book will be useful to a wide range of physical scientists and engineers, as well as the interested life scientist. My summary: Recommended." --John A. Synopsis
Mathematics for Physical Chemistry, Third Edition , is the ideal text for students and physical chemists who want to sharpen their mathematics skills. It can help prepare the reader for an undergraduate course, serve as a supplementary text for use during a course, or serve as a reference for graduate students and practicing chemists. The text concentrates on applications instead of theory, and, although the emphasis is on physical chemistry, it can also be useful in general chemistry courses. The Third Edition includes new exercises in each chapter that provide practice in a technique immediately after discussion or example and encourage self-study. The first ten chapters are constructed around a sequence of mathematical topics, with a gradual progression into more advanced material. The final chapter discusses mathematical topics needed in the analysis of experimental data., Mathematics for Physical Chemistry, Third Edition , is the ideal text for students and physical chemists who want to sharpen their mathematics skills. Numerous examples and problems interspersed throughout the presentations Each extensive chapter contains a preview, objectives, and summary Includes topics not found in similar books, such as a review of general algebra and an introduction to group theory Provides chemistry specific instruction without the distraction of abstract concepts or theoretical issues in pure mathematics

Item arrived from USA in less than 2 weeks, which is quite good. Packaging was rather minimal but fortunately book was undamaged. Sold at a reasonable price, so overall I am pleased with the service from this seller. For me it is of historical interest only, being a so-called updated edition of the classic reference book by the great William T. Innes. The original 19 editions were truly beautiful books which exude quality. This edition is a travesty, not worthy of the title it bears.
