Make no mistake, the item was great, though overpriced. I, however, freely elected to buy it. For those of us who collect the vast range of antiques, provenance is, if not everything, then almost everything. O.K. the seller ignored my attempts to make a deal below the asking price. But to ignore repeated requests for any provenance info, which is to say, to remain completely incommunicado, is totally unacceptable and evidences a real contempt not only for history but for the buyer who seeks it.
