About this product

Product Information

Hitty is a doll of great charm and character. It is indeed a privilege to publish her memoirs, which, besides being full of the most thrilling adventures on land and sea, also reveal her delightful personality. One glance at her portrait will show that she is no ordinary doll. Hitty, or Mehitable as she was really named, was made in the early 1800s for Phoebe Preble, a little girl from Maine. Young Phoebe was very proud of her beautiful doll and took her everywhere, even on a long sailing trip in a whaler. This is the story of Hitty's years with Phoebe, and the many that follow in the life of a well-loved doll.

Ordered a workbook. No where in description did it say it was written in. Took 10 days to receive. Contacted seller twice and included photos of the inside of the book and they failed to reply. I’d seriously reconsider purchasing from this seller.

I am SUPER happy with this transaction. I got an epic deal on a less common hardcover. They sold it to me for about $9 and all the others like it are going for about $30. There was no photo but really happy! Mack was ahead of his time, and a beautiful soul, taken too soon. Thank you on this great deal! Looking forward to reading about all these alien encounters, with such a great minds, insight. The book was listed as good and it was indeed in really good condition. Thanks a lot !!

  • Beautiful cover, can't wait to read it.

I haven't read it yet, but got it to go along with the Five in a Row curriculum. If its anything like the other books they have on their book lists, it'll be wonderful. Beautiful front cover.

  • Delightful story about a carved doll. Perfect for young readers & teachers

This book is a delightful read for the younger readers. I found it through a friend and fellow wood carver. It is about a carved wooden doll. I've carved two of the dolls and the last one included a book and doll blanket for an auction item for a non-profit organization. It went over well. Have purchased additional book on e-bay and plan to make more of the dolls to go with the books. I have friends that are former elementary teachers and/or have family that are teachers and they love the story for their students. I would highly recommend this book for younger readers or even us "young at heart" seniors.

  • Entertaining story

I bought this to read to my pre-school daughter. She enjoys the storyline as I read a chapter aloud to her most days. The pictures are interesting, but not as impressive as I thought I would be. This could be the paperback edition vs the hardback, not sure. Overall we're enjoying reading it and it will be a nice addition to our personal library. I wanted to aquire this before it was out of print or no longer available.
