What an outstanding album! I'll never understand how critics could ever whine and complain about this one. It is one of his best! You see, this album came out after his self-titled, blues-heavy album, which was judged harshly by the critics because it wasn't a shred album. Before that, "The Extremist" came out, a shred album which critics loved. When "Crystal Planet" came out, the critics said it sounded the same as "The Extremist." How unfair! "Crystal Planet" is great in its own right and features some of his best work! The song "Love Thing" made one of my friends an instant fan with its great melody and cool bass lines. "Raspberry Jam Delta-V" is another cool-sounding song that is great live. "Time" is a show-stopper that begs to be played loud. "A Train of Angels" is one of those loud yet touching songs he has a knack for creating and is a definite stand-out. "Ceremony" has a cool tribal-type beat to it and is very different-sounding compared to many of his songs. The title track has a very cool ambient, deep sound to it that is hard to describe. Overall, this is pure excellence and has a great balance of old and new to it. A definite must-own for all Satch fans or guitar fans in general.Read full review
