    Treat yourself

    The New Balance 99X series are a great value for cost, especially Made in the USA models. The 998s are my personal favorite of the 99X line. Nice lines and sporty profile, upper is not overly busy, but also not overly plain like some NBs (looking at you, 574). Upper is constructed from plush, long-lasting suede. Timeless style. The cushioning (30+ yr old tech.) is great, still - not too spongy, not too firm. Great for all day casual or semi-active wear. The 998s maybe a bit heavy to run in, but no matter; there are better options for that now. Treat yourself!
