The single most important homeschool resource!!!!
I purchased this book after another homeschool mom recommended it and showed me hers. She said 'this book is gold' and I MAY lend it to you if you really beg. Knowing her and how she has so eagerly lent me many materials, I knew she was entirely serious about if being 'gold. When paging through it, I saw immediately how valuable it would be to not only read through entirely, but to have on my bookshelf for easy reference. There is a no edition coming out in July 2010 that I also intend to purchase and to keep this edition on hand to borrow out to other moms...and even our family members that really are interested in why we have chosen to homeschool. "This book will solidify in your mind why you are homeschooling" is a quote from my fellow homeschooling mom. And it will. It is hands ... Educating the Wholehearted Child (1999)
There are many "how too" homeschool books on the market but as a Christian this IS the book I wish I would have read BEFORE ever starting homeschooling. This book was so convicting it had me in tears by page 3. This is also THE book any Christian Father should read if he even has even one doubt about his wife homeschooling. This book clearly states as a Christian why we should be homeschooling but is also very clear about what Christian homeschooling should be like and the sacrifices one makes to do homeschool. Clay & Sally Clarkson truly got what Christian homeschooling was all about and shared their experience in the form of this book. I was looking for a biblical approach to homeschool with an answer to why we homeschool and practical steps on how to train my children. This book reaffirmed our reasons to why, and gave us practical tips on how to homeschool. But most important, it is teaching me and our family to change our heart, putting it correct with God, living by His Grace, and conforming to His will.
