1/13/22 - Tales of Vesperia is a re-release of the Xbox 360/PS3 version with the DLC included. Nothing else was changed, including the sometimes awkward cut-scenes and the now-trivial side-quests. I actually enjoy the active battle system, and think the open field battle mechanic works pretty well... but the ally AI has much to be improved. The anime to 3D art style is very impressive for it's age, and the new outfits are fun to wear through each cut-scene. I hate the plot... it's mundane and just points the direction of where to go; there's no drama to it, no mass casualties, no war. OooooOOOooh, someone stole a bunch of magic balls and now monsters go wild, give me a break. Just like the original releases, there's still a problem with the few boss battles that contain a difficulty spike that kills a lot of interest into the game. But Bandai did keep the RPG cliche of tossing a save point right before any boss battle, so we can either grind battles to level up or keep retrying in hopes of AI luck or fault. Nintendo never came out with any kind of end goal or achievement or trophy system so most of the side quests are purely cosmetic or just contain amusing cut scenes like the cooking, staying at every inn and filling out the whole monster manual. If you're a fan the Tales or Saga series of games, you'll likely enjoy this one, but those tied to Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest might have a little struggle in the first fight.Read full review

Fun gameplay, interesting additions and characters I don't want to punch in the face. A rarity for a Tales game.
