Product Information

A group of Welsh villagers band together to defend their town's honor during WWI when an English mapmaker comes to town and declares their local "mountain" to be fifteen feet too short to qualify. This is a great little movie with a great sound track

This is a lovely little movie, suitable for viewing by anyone (except for a few British swear words tat don't sound so bad). It was quirky and funny and moving and very different from the ordinary boy meets girl theme. I loved the language and the music - in fact I liked the music so much I ordered the soundtrack to play in m car..

  • Delightful, underrated movie!

This is one of those movies that many people haven't seen. I don't know why it hasn't become better known, as it is a little jewel. A small town in Wales' claim to fame is that the nearby hill is actually the first mountain in Wales, the frontline of a string of mountains which kept ancient Wales safe from the attacks that nearby countries suffered regularly. A pair of Englishmen arrive to measure the mountain, find it falls just a few feet short of being tall enough to officially qualify as a mountain, and the fun ensues! A charming, funny movie to watch if you want to pass some time very pleasantly.

  • Charming, Whitty typical Grant

I collect wonderful film and this film is wonderful! It's a simple story actually, set in a romantic and colorful location at a time when the world took a deep breath between world wars. It's a story about pride and heritage and the extent that honorable people will go to maintain it. The film script is upbeat and acted superbly and accented with marvelous cinematography. Hugh Grant plays the part we all love and is supported with a little known but outstanding cast. If you like heart warming film...you will love this one!

I just like the movie! I had seen it a long time ago and wanted to see it again.

  • The Englishman Who went Up a Hill But Came Down a Mount

I rented this video a few years ago after seeing it at a Hollywood Video store. I enjoyed it so much that I searched for it on ebay once I had internet access but only recently located it. It's a romantic comedy set in the early 1900's, staring Hugh Grant as a an English cartographer remaking a map of a Welsh village. It's just good, clean, very funny entertainment!
